John Endres, Managing Director - Private Placements, Genworth Financial:
"Given the credit environment we are in, it was very helpful to hear where the bankers, the agents and the investors see the market this year. There's a lot of uncertainty, so it was very helpful."

Robert Nash, Partner, Chapman & Cutler:

"It was beneficial hearing from all sides in the market under the current economic circumstances. It was good to know that sophisticated participants in this market are cautious but very much believe it's a viable market."

"If you really want to understand the thinking of the participants in this market you have to be at this conference. There is nothing that competes with it."

Timothy Page, Executive Director,  WestLB Securities Inc.:
"The Private Placements Industry Forum is one of the best networking events for USPP and investors."

Ken Hines, Senior Managing Director - Bonds & Corporate Finance, John Hancock Financial Services:

"It was my first time attending and I enjoyed the opportunity to meet many people and enjoyed meeting a lot of different people. You have a great staff and you put on a good show."

President Obama, the crash of the credit markets, world-threatening recession in full effect, unprecedented cessation of lending, the late part of 2008 and the start of 2009 have kept financial professionals on edge as they wonder what the future holds for investing, issuing debt and paying off existing debt levels coming due in 2009.

This tense environment made the Private Placements Industry Forum 2009, held in Boca Raton, Florida on January 21-23, the perfect platform for the global private placements industry to gather and review 2008 and set agendas for 2009.

Despite unseasonably cold weather in South Florida on the opening day of the conference, a contingent of private placements executives made it to the main hall and enjoyed the start of what proved to be three days of strategic sessions on the health of the private capital markets economy.

Chaos that began in late summer of 2008 is still being sorted through, but companies from all sides of the private placements industry feel that they have begun to steady the course of their work and they anticipate a slow return to normal levels.
