Thank you to all who made GAIM Ops Ireland 2014 a resounding success.
We look forward to welcoming you and your peers back next September at the Powerscourt Hotel outside of Dublin. A few highlights and predictions from this year's event:
Former Prime Minister John Bruton identified challenges (banking in Europe will contract, current pension schemes are not viable in long run for ageing populations) and opportunities (the synergy between IT software and financial services, life insurance in China) on a global scale
Demands and sentiments from the ODD experts included: ample information on disaster recovery and back up, for complex managers with esoteric instruments – what is the pricing source, a lack of confidence in the independent director governance structure
The prime brokerage model panel highlighted the changing cost assessment model, the importance of particular client strategies aligning with the PBs model, and ambiguity around how prime brokerage desks are measuring returns
