Using WBCSD’s Vision 2050 of a Sustainable World to
Drive Corporate Innovation
Part 1:
Members of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development
(WBCSD) organized the Vision 2050 project to develop a business view of
a sustainable and sustaining civilization by 2050 – and then to attack the
harder challenges of laying out actions that must be taken, starting now, to
make that vision a reality.
First will Dr. Per Sandberg and some of the key company representatives will present key findings and arguments from WBCSD’s Vision 2050 project. This is an attempt by 29 major corporations to rethink the new roles that companies must play over the next few decades to survive and thrive as civilization attempts to manage the major challenges it faces. During the first part of this session you will:
- Understand how WBCSD and the Vision 2050 member companies see our sustainable future: Radical business change of massive speed and scale.
- Taste the multitude of business opportunities that this radical change will provide and require.
- Explore how the Vision 2050 platform can be used to trigger and drive sustainable innovation: that is, innovation which is targeted to address the world’s largest challenges at the required speed and scale.

Part 2:
FEI Europe is always a unique gathering of expert innovation professionals
that have the scientific, technological and economic knowledge and tools
to address these challenges, but often lack the necessary drive for urgent
action and leadership.
This session will remove the constraints of corporate walls and social structures to leverage the cross-industry, cross-functional expertise of the audience.
We will break into interactive round table groups and do what is most needed: To kick-off and drive innovation which is targeted to solve the world’s major challenges at the required speed and scale.
Each attendee will group up with peers and focus on one of the key Vision 2050 challenges. Your assignment will be to innovate, generate, inspire, and collaborate to solve a key challenge created from Vision 2050 project.
