DID YOU KNOW?

  • The amount of time children are spending in front of a television is at an 8-year high! 2-5 year olds spend about 32 hours a week in front of the TV, while kids aged 6-11 watch about 28 hours per week.1

  • While the amount of time children spend absorbed in new media (including the Internet and video games) is increasing, the amount of time spent with the traditional mediums (television, print and music) has remained steady.2 

 TWEENS/TEENS

DID YOU KNOW?

  • The average young person in America (ages 8-18) will spend about 7 1/2 hours a day on smart phones, computers, in front of a television or on another electronic device. 3

  • Many young teens (12-14 years old) are taking multi-tasking seriously - while doing homework just about half watch television and almost 20% are on the Internet.4

 PARENTS

DID YOU KNOW?

  • 35% of parents will play video games with their children, 47% of them being women.1

  • Parents watch more television than their children - Mothers will spend about 42.95 days in front of the television, compared to a father's 37.051

GRANDPARENTS

  • In the last 5 years, the number of people 65 and older who use the Internet on a regular basis increased 55% to 17.5 million seniors. 1
