 Special thanks to all who attended & participated in the inaugural BIOREPOSITORIES 2008 event this past September in Philadelphia. On September 8-10, 2008, speakers and delegates convened to exchange ideas about the growing concern of biological sample storage. Workshops focused on how to incorporate a biorepository in an organization and also an industry working group discussed creating standards for biorepository operations. The main conference featured expert presentations and open discussions focused on biorepository opportunities, standardization guidance, current challenges for operational strategies, as well as, legal and regulatory issues. This first time conference succeeded in its goal and is on track to build on this success for 2009.
